2019 GAC Motor GS5 Compact Crossover Full Car Overview

The GS5 isn’t going to be in anybody’s auto wishlist this coming Christmas, but it’s also not a clunker. The SUV has a good design. It has full-LED lenticular headlights with three diamond cuts on the single side. It’s integrated into a massive Hyundai-like grille that makes the SUV look wider. Big intakes on either side of the bumper also give it a sporty look. The side profile is impressive, too. It has an ideal stance for an SUV, emphasized largely by sharp and muscular shoulder lines. GAC doesn’t mention the GS5’s dimensions, but it looks big and long enough to justify its status as an SUV. The rear section scores some points, too, specifically the integrated taillights that are made up of 190 LED particles. There’s no mention on how much power it’s going to have, but GAC did say that the SUV comes with the automaker’s third-generation 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The engine, according to the company, is mated to a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. That’s the extent of information we have of the GS5 at the moment. It’s worth mentioning, though, that GAC has used the GS5 name in the past, specifically under the Trumpchi brand. It’s unlikely that a connection’s going to be made between the two, which bodes well for this new SUV because the other GS5 didn’t exactly move any needles. But now, the company is optimistic that this GS5 will fare better than its bland namesake. It certainly has no choice but to be optimistic given how far it’s come in the industry despite being only 10 years old. So, here it is, folks. GAC Motors has introduced the GS5 SUV at the Paris Motor Show. Where it goes from here is anybody’s guess. For the sake of the Chinese automaker behind it, here’s to hoping that it can succeed in paving the way for the auto brand to carve up a presence in the European market.

2018 FAW Senya R9 SUV Flagship 1.2T Full Car Overview - FAW Senia In China

The best video so far of the FAW Senya R9, a new mid-sized SUV for China. The Senya R9 features a giant shiny grille with the biggest FAW logo I have ever seen. The R9 will debut later this month on the Beijing Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market in May. The best interior of the Senya range so far, with a wide center tunnel, a large semi-free standing touch screen, and a sporty steering wheel with a thick rim. The Senya R9 will be positioned above the Senya R7. Senya (森雅), also known as Xenia, is a brand under First Auto Works (FAW). Xenia-branded cars are manufactured by FAW-Jilin, a FAW subsidiary based in Jilin Province. Crease over the side from the front fender via the door handles to the rear lights. Very stylish rear lights and again a large FAW logo. The Senya R9 will be powered by a 1.5 turbo with 150 hp and 215 Nm, mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, sending horses to the front wheels. The Senya R9 badge with the R in red. We strongly support the use of red badges, numbers, and characters, on turbocharged cars. See you in Beijing; the new FAW Senya R9 SUV for China

The flagship FAW T77 seven-seat SUV will go on sale in China in November, however the pre-bookings will commence from the 17th of October, as per media reports. The T77 SUV is based on the FAW T-Concept that was displayed at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2018.

Interestingly, the T77 bears ‘Bestune’ wordmark instead of ‘Besturn’. As FAW has also recently changed the ‘Senya’ wordmark to ‘Senia’ for their other range of vehicles, while ‘Junpai’ has also been renamed to ‘Jumpal’. FAW is in process of heavily revising their product lineup in China making them more synergized to the prevailing consumer demands. While the change of wordmarks is because FAW is willing to launch these models in international markets and want the names to sound ‘English’ rather than Chinese.

The 7-seater T77 SUV, will be the biggest and the most expensive SUV by FAW. Compared to the T-Concept, the overall design of the production version has not changed much. More importantly, the characteristic hexagonal recessed large mouth grille remain intact. More importantly the bright flame orange color of the concept has also remained intact.

The side profile features black wheel arches, blacked skid plate and floating roof design. At the rear the C-shaped taillights are connected to each other while the dual-tome bumper with dynamic creases hides the tailpipe and houses the rear fog lamps and reversing lamps.

The T77 will be powered by a 1.2 liter turbocharged engine producing 143hp, which is similar to what FAW has packed with the recently launched flagship Senia R9 SUV. The transmission options are 5-speed manual & 7-speed DCT, the same as in the Senia R9.

In terms of dimensions, the new T77 measures 4525/1845/1615 (mm) and has a wheelbase of 2700mm, which makes the T77 some 20mm longer than the Senia R9 but slightly shorter in width and height. Both R9 and T77 have an exact wheelbase of 2700mm though.

The Bestune T77 SUV will be available in different configurations, with options including panoramic sunroof, dual exterior colors (black roof) for premium trims, 17/18/19 inch wheels with low profile tires, LED DRLs, front & rear fog lamps, front & rear cameras and Bosch ABS system etc.
